AMA - Associação de Amigos do Autista (Brasil)

A Missão:
- Proporcionar à pessoa com autismo uma vida digna: trabalho, saúde, lazer e integração à sociedade.
- Oferecer à família da pessoa com autismo instrumentos para a convivência no lar e em sociedade.
- Promover e incentivar pesquisas sobre o autismo, difundindo o conhecimento acumulado.

A AMA atende em duas unidades, ambas na cidade de São Paulo: no Sítio Nova Esperança, que fica no bairro de Parelheiros, e no Centro de Reabilitação Infantil, que fica no bairro do Cambuci.

Toda pessoa autista deve receber educação especial diária, oferecida por profissionais preparados que conheçam bem o autismo.

O que é Autismo
O Autismo é um distúrbio do desenvolvimento humano que vem sendo estudado pela ciência há seis décadas, mas sobre o qual ainda permanecem dentro do próprio âmbito da ciência divergências e grandes questões por responder.
Atualmente, embora o Autismo seja bem mais conhecido, tendo inclusive sido tema de vários filmes de sucesso, ele ainda surpreende pela diversidade de características que pode apresentar e pelo fato de na maioria das vezes a criança autista ter uma aparência totalmente normal.
O Autismo é uma síndrome definida por alterações presentes desde idades muito precoces, tipicamente antes dos três anos de idade, e que se caracteriza sempre por desvios qualitativos na comunicação, na interação social e no usa da imaginalção.
É comum pais relatarem que a criança passou por um período de normalidade anteriormente à manifestação dos sintomas.
Quando as crianças com autismo crescem, desenvolvem suas habilidades sociais em extensão variada.

ABADS (former Pestalozzi Society)

The Brazilian Association for Social Welfare and Development - ABADS is a charitable institution of public utility, with 58 years of existence.

Mission
Offer specialized programs and services in the areas of Health, Education and Professional Training for children and young people with intellectual disabilities from 0 to 22 years, therapeutic and educational process to autistics, and intellectual support to the disabled adult in order to encourage the exercise of citizenship - in paradigm - social inclusion.

The actions developed by ABADS are a reference for building an inclusive society (showing its importance in the third sector), because they promote information dissemination, support to families and professional training.

Health - Center for diagnosis and treatment.
Education - Special education school for children and kids.
Support centre for adult intellectual disability.
Professional training.

In ABADS over thirty thousand people are served annually in its various programs and services.

AACD - Association for Assistance to Deficient Children

The Association for Assistance to Deficient Children is a private, nonprofit, who has work for 59 years for the welfare of people with physical disabilities.

AACD was born the dream of a doctor in Brazil who wanted to create a rehabilitation center with the same quality of centers that knew abroad to treat children and adolescents with disabilities and reintegrate them into society. Dr. Renato da Costa Bomfim assembled a group of idealistic and, in 1950, founded the AACD.

Earlier, the organization worked in two rented houses in Rua Barão de Piracicaba, in São Paulo. But with to the collaboration of the donors, the AACD founded his first rehabilitation center, on land donated by the São Paulo city on street Ascendino Reis.

The center was inaugurated in June 1963 and marked a new stage in the treatment of patients of the institution. It works to date, same address. But the company won seven other units throughout the state and throughout Brazil.

Mission: To promote the prevention, habilitation and rehabilitation of persons with physical disabilities, especially children, adolescents and young people and encouraging social integration.

Vision: To be the preferred option in Orthopedics and Rehabilitation for patients, doctors, professionals, covenants and supporters, and be recognized for its high standard of quality and efficiency, transparency, social responsibility and sustainability.

Values: social responsibility, respect for human beings and their differences, ethics, quality, efficiency and competence and transparency

For over a decade, the AACD performs the Teleton, which every year brings together artists, presenters and personalities in a telethon in search of donations.

 - To keep the more than 5.760 calls medicals that AACD does every day, the institution relies on donations of individuals and companies who collaborate regularly. However, there are still over 30.000 disabled people in queues waiting for an opportunity to receive care.
